  •                 Hi all,
I've been a fan of VTMB for years now and play it at least once a year. The bloodlines modding community helped fuel my interest in the game and keep it fresh over the years. But, even though you guys do an awesome job in keeping a work of art fresh, there is still something that has not been updated that has gotten stale over the years.
no matter how many new weapons, skins or game play elements are added the story remains the same, and as all hardcore VTMB fans know, it looses a lot of appeal after a few playthroughs.
after playing the game for 4 or 5 years i have achieved a certain level of mastery at the game and yet i often find myself gritting my teeth constantly being treated like a fledgling.

So, here is my proposition. I propose a Bloodlines story mod. more like an expansion really.
what if the story continued, sending the character on new quests and either introduceing new characters or developing old ones? would it not be cool to see the characters story unfold further and revitalize the game completely?
I would be able to contribute by helping write the story or lending my voice. i also am trying to wrap my head around programing in python (It's complicated.)

so what do you guys think? is that feasible given a concerted effort from the VTMB fanbase? or would that just be to skull-shatteringly complex?

New models cannot be added, and new items cannot be added. There is no Map editor, so any 'new' areas have to be created with coordinates in what amounts to a text file. Any additional dialog will not have voice acting and will likely not even have lip-syncing.

Do you see why such a thing has not be done? The result would not be worth the massive amount of work required.

Something like this has already been done by the Clan Quest mod. Because no new maps can be done old locations have been recycled but as far as I know some unseen restored NPC models were used and even a lot of new voice overs!

As far as I know he wanted to use some of the new barkeeper models.

  •                 what i was suggesting was something along the lines of the clan quest mod. so if we used the same areas, but took the NPCs that were disabled or killed in the main story and reskinned them or just used the existing characters to extend the saga, would that work?

Also i don't see how new voice acting and lip sync is not possible seeing as the clan quest mod already did it.

But, whatever. you guys know what you're talking about so I guess I'll just try blackmailing the developers or something.

Good luck with that, seeing as they're mosly likely working at other companies now (if you didn't know, Troika don't exist anymore).

I did not say it was not possible.

How many voice actors do you know? How many good voice actors do you know? How many good voice actors do you know that sound anything like the original voice actors? How many of those have the correct sound recording equipment?

Generally, it's better to have no VA at all then crappy VA. But both are fairly terrible and can easily ruin a Mod.
