A call to arms for Psycho-A, ZeqMacaw and DDLullu

As much I love Bloodlines, we all know gunplay always kind of sucked. It is styled too much like Half-Life while still trying to include RPG elements.

But I have an idea about how it could be improved a great deal, or at least how it could be spiced up a little. It shouldn't be impossible, but it might be a little difficult.

We should add ironsights/ads into the Bloodlines! Why? Because it would be awesome. What other reason could you possibly need? Fine, it will also improve the gameplay experience. It might even make gunplay actually fun.

I really wanted to implement this but I couldn't make any sense of it since it is way outside of my skill base, but I thought you guys might understand it.

So would this use secondary fire? Are you aware that some weapons already use this for scopes or switching weapon modes?

My memory is a bit fuzzy. Are you talking about the right mouse button?

I thought we would use middle mouse button for it, since right mouse button is used for many other things. Unless we find a better way to utilize it that is.

I was thinking middle mouse button would be best suited for this job as well. :)

Personally I wouldn't want anything that would detract from the rpg centric nature of the game. I want to add ironsights because it can enhance the gameplay experience a little while not effecting the overall experience at all. After all only reason why Bloodlines doesn't have ironsights is because Half-Life games don't have ironsights.

Not to mention as far as I know adding hit animations is not even possible with the tools we have. And even if we can make NPC's less spongey we still wouldn't do that.

Ironsights would only give you a little more accuracy and nothing more.

Of course I am using a trick to accomplish this and it isn't working all that well, but it does give an idea about how it would look.

I posted that just to give a general idea about how it would look. Like I said, it was done using a trick, so it wasn't really done properly. It doesn't represent how it would look if we actually managed to do it the right way.

You will notice it isn't aligned properly and fov is all wrong. What you wouldn't notice from the picture, gun keeps moving around in game.

One alternative way I can think of to accomplish this, creating separate models with modified animations for ironsights and creating an addon to make sure game utilities the models, just like it was done for Counter Strike 1.6. It has a chance of working because Bloodlines version of the Source engine is a mix between new and old. But since we cannot actually modify animations to any extent, this just isn't feasible at the moment. (Maybe DDLullu could pull it off as models and animations are his thing, but seeing none of the people I mentioned by name even replied to this tread, it is highly unlikely they will get involved with this))

It seems PlanetVampire.com Psycho-A, ZeqMacaw and DDLullu either didn't see this or they are not interested in it.

Oh well.
