Skin Glitch
« on: August 15, 2011, 12:36:10 am »
I downloaded this skin, Female Toreador, and when I have the second outfit equipped, the pony tail at the back goes every which way and splits into two parts almost like pigtails, is there any fix to this so it just looks like a regular ponytail?

Some of the times, these odd graphic glitches are often caused by a low performance video card or the lack of updates on your video card. I remember back when I had an obsolete dell in 2005 with an "extreme graphics" 2 card, I had so many graphic glitches. As if the slowness and choppyness was bad enough...

However, I'd like to know your PC specs and tell me, have you installed the most recent unofficial patch? If not I highly suggest you do so, you'd be surprised how fixed the game is thanks to Wesp5.

Unless that Toreador was designed by Wesp or burgermeister, it's generally a bad idea to mix-and-match mod or patch content. There is a slight possibility that installing the Unofficial patch and that skin will make things worse, especially if you try to do it in the middle of a playthrough. Make sure to back up your game files before you install any game-changing material.

As long as this is a pure skin mod, nothing should happen...

Well, the game should work fine in vanilla mode, but we both know that doesn't happen all that often, don't we?  :justabite:

I got the 2010 patch that comes with Camarilla 1.4 and the 7.0 patch.

I don't recall the exact specs of my computer, but my video card is an Nvidia Geforce 7300 LE. My comp itself is around 5 years old. All of the other outfits and what not work just fine, its just the ponytail is all glitchy like someone took Jenette's pigtails and pushed them into one area. It only happens when I'm strafing, when running in a straight direction the hair looks like one solid ponytail.

When wearing the heaviest Ventrue armor a glitch can sometimes occur where the back of the armor, i.e. the cape, comes up front so that it looks like you're wearing it backwards. It happens if you jump around, especially when turning around while jumping. It might be the same kind of glitch here, but in the Ventrue armor case you can easily switch it back by either jumping around some more or swapping armor. A ponytail is a bit different, but it might be the same problem and could perhaps be solved in the same way.

I guess your computer ISNT the problem. It's probly just the side effect of how the creator of that skin made it. What's funny is whenever I play a malkavian female and I go down in an elevator (ex: skyline apartments) the ponytail sticks straight up. It's really just the mixture of the goofy physics of the game and your reskin. From your description, it's nothing to be majorly concerned about if it's not getting away from your gameply.

Beside, a woman with self transforming hair is pretty unique if you ask me.

Want a little cheese with that whine?   :justabite:

I'm still wondering how they will handle Fleshcrafting (Vicissitude) in the WODMMO.  Will there be certain effects you can do in combat?  Will they be permanent on those of higher generation?  Assuming they have generation in the MMO, of course.  Also, will 'self-modification' be a part of the game for Tzimisce?  Questions, questions (and no answers).

Malleable Visage is easy-peasy: just open up an in-game character design window when it's triggered, so they can edit facial and body appearance. It's all cosmetic - though it could still be used to impersonate other Cainites, like it is in tabletop (if names aren't floating above peoples' heads). Fleshcrafting and Bonecrafting are going to be the crazy ones, but I could see putting in half-a-dozen powers for each one, and limiting it to that.

Ex: Fleshcraft you get "bulk up", giving you +1 to Soak pools at -1 to Dexterity; and "visage of horror", +3 intimidate with mortals, "sensory augmentation" (making your nose or ears bigger, +1 to Perception at -1 to Appearance or something), etc, etc. I think there should be both costs and penalties, so you don't go wandering around beating the whole game with just one uber fix.
Bonecrafting can give you access to weapons that deal Bashing and Lethal damage, increase your Unarmed Ability, give yourself bone armor, etc, etc.

Horrid Form is easy.

Blood Form can be easy - change the skin and give yourself bonuses to stealth and the ability to drown humans.

I was actually wondering how they would handle the use of Fleshcrafting on other players.  Can you use it in combat?  This would be vicious against a Toreador... with one touch, make half of their face sag, or one arm twisted and bent.  I agree that they will have limited effects, that can be easily implemented on others.

Other effects include reducing Physical Attributes (Dexterity with Fleshcraft, Strength with Bonecraft) and Appearance - but it should have a long build-up/casting time, so you can't spam it or make it the one-stop melee-combat win. Your victim should be pretty helpless already - Vicissitude is a science and an art, and the "grab and maim" aspect should have minor penalties that reflect the sloppiness of its execution.

Also fleshcrafting ghouls with the same bonuses and penalties you can inflict on your player-character.

Yeah, I know the PnP penalties; I'm just wondering if the MMO will do the same.  We'll see.
