  •                 Odd one, that.  I'm sitting there minding my own business and doing some work on the computer.  In the background I've got the TV on; it's showing an old episode of a UK TV show called 'Midsomer Murders'.  The episode's called 'The Straw Woman', and it's a whodunnit set in a rural (and fictitious) part of Britain.

I'm not really paying much attention to the programme, to be honest; mostly I'm concentrating on the computer.  And suddenly, out of the blue, I start thinking about VTMB.  I'm not sure quite why, at first, because although I'm a big fan of the game I hadn't played it for a while.

Well, to cut a long story short, having finished what I was doing on the computer I ran the programme back a way so that I could actually concentrate on it.  And I found out why Vampire had popped up in my memory.

About halfway through the programme there's a short scene where a man creeps into the village church late at night.  To make it nice and eerie, the sound people run an effect that, when I actually listened properly, I recognised immediately: it's the ambient whispery sound you hear on Vampire while using Obfuscate - and it is the exact sound, too, with all the half-heard voices and echoes...  Suddenly it all clicked into place.  happy

Yeah, sure, this post could've been a lot shorter.  I could've said 'they used a VTMB sound effect in Midsomer Murders', and left it at that.  Or I could've said nothing, because it's not really important enough to mention.  But, on the other hand, the effect it had on my memory before I really registered that I was hearing it was interesting to me.

For is it not written, 'The Mind Plays Some Bloody Funny Tricks Sometimes'?  clown
