I would dump some points into persuasion, it's such a useful skill.
Do Malks really get that penalty in CQM? I never recognised it. Or is it the Camarilla edition in CQM? I don't use that. I find that penalty a bit strange, why shouldn't a Malk be able to be persuasive?

Depends on the Malk but the one from BL1 seems to be "psychotic", if such was the case, then he/she would logically not sound very convincing given his/her lacking grasp of reality.

It does makes sense - if the Malkavian talks like crazy, than he won´t have easy time to charm people around him. I will accept the penalty and try to play with it.

The question is now purely mechanical - will it be worth it tryin to overcome the -2 penalty, or would it be better to not take persuasion all together.

Shouldn't be too hard. Afaik the only person who needs persuasion 9 is Mira Giovanni. Plus you have dementation.

Is Mira the youngster from Chicago who can show you the Giovani basement?  If it is, she doesn't need anywhere near "9" - I rarely have even six and she shows me.  I'm thinking, perhaps, the power hungry ones who I never am able to convince - one of the three - may need a nine?

Yes, one of the three power hungry ones is Mira. She is standing near the piano at the Giovanni party.

Are you really sure about that, I believe she does need 9 as well.

No, you are just mistaking the younger woman, Nadja, with the older one, Mira.

I definitely like the -2 Persuasion penalty for Malks.
1) it makes the game a bit more interesting, forcing you to put points in other skills for a change (or accept the cost)
2) since most supernatural characters recognize you as a Malkavian the first time you open your mouth, the insanity stigma must be miserably obvious... it makes sense to cut their persuasive skills a bit

No, you are just mistaking the younger woman, Nadja, with the older one, Mira.

He was thinking it took a nine persuasion for Nadia too (both) and I thought not so I postulated that there was a difference in the patches (I guess trying to avoid conflict :) ).  I really can't be 100% certain as it's been a while since I played the game but I don't generally put a lot of effort into persuasion and I've always been able to get Nadia to show me the basement.

You are right, Nadja only needs Persuasion 6, but Mira needs 9!
