Bloodrayne 2 had great locations, much better combat and power usage, better controls, great graphics, and more! However, the game’s difficulty at almost all times was generally worse than all but the last few fights in the original game. It is so hard that I actually quit playing after only a couple of hours a few months ago. It’s just not worth it. I play a game to have fun; not be miserable, and Bloodrayne 2 makes me a miserable son of a bitch.

The last boss is so LAUGHABLY EASY. It comes as an especially big slap in the face considering the bone-crushingly difficult boss just prior to him, which is some scientist in what amounts to a giant fleshcrafted mech.

It only takes you 8 hours? What do you skip all the side quests? I'm not sure how long it takes me exactly, but I do everything, read everything and ask every NPC every question whenever I play it and I know all that takes me longer than 8 hours and I don't do much reloading and half the time I use noclip to speed through the boring "walking through hubs to get from one place to another" to save time.

 Nope, all the sidequests done.

Do you sit and listen to all the audio? That seems to be where most people get hung-up. I read the subtitles and skip the VA.

Also, if you have hated this game for years, then what are you doing here? I hate Oblivion, and I will attack it with gusto whenever it comes up on an internet forum, but I wouldn't join a forum devoted to it. I understand you like VTM, but then why spend time in the Bloodlines sections, make and help with mods, and you seem to know a lot about the inner workings of the game. Offkorn, are you a masochist? Sorry, just trying to figure out why you keep spend so much time on a game you've hated for three and a half years.

 Am I a masochist? Am I a masochist...

 Oh...hold on...

 Laughing...

 To hard...

 Ah...

Am I a masochistic you say? Wherever could you have possibly gotten that idea from? Could if have been from the 100 or so times I've mentioned It?

Why am I here you ask? Once you've been through the beginning of something, no matter how horrific it is, you build an attachment to it. This forum is something like that, and it's rather difficult to find a forum so lax moderator-wise. Plus, if I up and left, who would there be to remember the true hero's of the game? Wesp has been on a campaign to erase their names from history and indirectly take credit for all the idea the community has given him.

For beter or worse, mostly worse, this game is the last remnant of the oWoD, and I'm obligated to do what I can for it.

Based on my latest game, I suspect that I could possibly get through the entire game including side quests in under eight hours, but to do that requires either high sneaking and/or high melee feats and just plan on losing some of the points from not sneaking in. The longest scenarios are grout, warrens and mandarin (especially mandarin as you have to wait for the idiot to stop talking first). other then those you can pretty much run (or quickly sneak ) through the sets.

However, I am playing for the enjoyment, so usually try to see if I can discover something else I didn;t know about before. Like this last game, I finally figured out how to make sure I see the man with the ax ghost in the hotel. And playing Malkavian is always asking for a variation on the usual. Some of the malk dialogs don't seem to show up in sub titles only in the audio.

Possibly the most immersive game I've ever played...mais il a les problemes. Most have already been covered, and are really pretty minor...only thing I should mention that was only briefly considered is the Soc. De Leopoldia buggus maximo. When you get to the Society of Leopold, save before you leave, then look for a fix. Or get the official patch. That's all I'm going to say so as not to spoil anything speshul.

But in answer to yer question of supreme originality (it's not what you think! I know, I know. Any inference of sarcasm is completely unintended, and neither I or my associates may be held responsible for damage or loss directly resulting from a misunderstanding pertaining to this ambiguity) get this game. 's been said that you'll thoroughly enjoy it, and that is just the truth.

so there is an area for just that?

 how are the quests?
and what exactly is the point in leveling?

can the humans that walk at night/day
kill you, or suspect that you are undead?

i am simply too lazy to read all of the comments,
especially because now it is turning into and argument.

thanks for all the help though everyone.

I must say I'm flattered you took the time to dissect my post so thoroughly. I'd forgotten about Bloodrayne, but then I never really played it outside the demo. Castlevania I played back in the day, and I thought 1 and 3 were OK but the fourth one on Super Nintendo is still my favorite (not Dracula X, though). I never played the new ones with the oh-so-cleverly named Alucard, so supposedly they are the best in the series.

Ah, glad to hear it. Yeah, they’re pretty interesting, and she’s very nice to look at, but they can be hell-hard at times. I think Resident Evil 4 is about as hard as I would like a game to get and still be able to enjoy it. I cuss up a storm when a random asshole with a chainsaw takes my Leon’s head off, but the sort of “temporary saveâ€? created when you enter a room makes the game beatable for people who suck or who are really anal with their ammo (both of those are me). I need to try some Castlevania games one of these days. When I get a job again and can afford to buy non-“requiredâ€? games again, I might see about downloading a couple on my Wii.

Yeah, the last boss requires that you basically stand in one spot while non-stop slashing and activating your slow time power boost abilities. It really is insulting, given the rest of the game’s absurd difficulty.

He probably expected a non-bilious response from you originally, and got lost in thought when you went on to talk about declaring yourself a masochist all the time when I've never noticed it before, and I doubt too many others have noticed it, either.

I actually liked the first BloodRayne better than the second one BR2 had some very pretty graphics but by the third  or fourth "grab people with grappling hooks and slam them against something" type puzzle I was so thoroughly bored that I uninstalled the game.

I've been a PC Gamer exclusively since about 1998 or so, and for the most part I don't regret my decision but there are those rare console games, like RE4 or Ninja Gaiden, that make me wish I had a console. Just don't bother with Castlevania 2, for the following reasons:

lmao! There really is no second character like Offkorn in the whole world.

Skipping the voice acting in Bloodlines is like eating the finest dish you can imagine by having it pre-digested by lab equipment and then injected in your veins.

What can I say? I'm old-school. As far as I'm concerned, VA in RPGs is still a new invention.

I prefer a novel to a movie any day.

V.sexx...since none of ma peeps is respondin' like, I'm going to jump right in and leave them to their own petty flame wars.

Quests are, on the whole, good. Some last for 5 minutes, others pretty much the whole game. All in all, the way you have to go and find some of them, and the way they interact, only adds to the immersion.

Re: RP...the whole thing is about roleplaying, really. If you want to be consistent wiv yer character...the way conversations work is the other guy says something, then ye gets a list of responses, and ye press the key for teh one you want. That's the main roleplaying element that's bound to the game. As far as 'areas' go, there are 3 types of 'area', there's 'Masquerade Areas', which is mostly streets and public buildings, where you must uphold the Masquerade (see below) unless you're feeling particularly disgruntled, there's 'Combat Areas' which are areas where either the peepies ye might be urged to dispatch are already aware of the existence of preternatural entities, so they won't respond with anything but bullets if ye spout: "Throw your hands in the air!", or it's just like you just don't care. Then finally, there's Elysium (woot to those who get it!) which is basically an area where weapons and disciplines art vorboten 'cos it's "The realm of a Powerful Vampire". In response to your question, the Masquerade areas are probably the ones you could most realistically describe as being 'Roleplaying' areas. Or maybe Elysium. But in some cases combat. Meh...

Re: Peeeeeeople: There is no day. Although the storyline indicates that it don't all take place in one night, you don't ever go to sleep or nuffink, and there's no limit on how long ye can be outside fer. To explain whether people can 'guess' yer an supernaturalz, I must prescribe the Masquerade.

It doth go thus: The Masquerade is the law all Kindred (That's sanguines (That's vampires)) must un-live by. Well, it's not precisely must, but they should if they have an ounce of esteem for their loathsome existences. 'Violating' the Masquerade entails something like, oh I don't know...running faster than a train, spontaneously transformaterating into a haiwy-scawy monstronsity, or making radioactive birds appear from nowhere and attack people. Of course, you can do what you like in the privacy of your own home, or a 'combat area' (wow! utter convenience!) but ye gotta keep stuff to yerself, ye know(s)?

Just walking by someone, they won't suspect anything unless you're a Nosferatu (for reasons which will become clear if and when you buy the game).

The "Point" of "Leveling" is...well there's not really a "Point" but the system is that you earn 'Experience Points (XP)' when you complete certain objectives, gaining more for better ways of doing it blah blah blah and then you allocate those points to certain skills in your character sheet, thereby generally either directly increasing your chances of survival, or just making things easier for you.

Hope that covers it more than the rest of these lazy thread-jacking scumsuckers even attempted to contemplate. I know, my moral high-horse is a new acquisition.
