Hacking feat is not as potent as I thought it was :(
« on: March 04, 2020, 01:30:54 pm »
Using Notepad++ and searching for a regular expression, "difficulty"[ \t]+", in the folder containing properties of all the teminals, I have discovered that there are very few computers requiring high values of the Hacking feat. In particular, there are:

- 0 subdirectories requiring Hacking 9 or 10
- 3 subdirectories requiring 8
- 2 subdirectories requiring 7
- 8 subdirectories requiring 6
- 4 subdirectories requiring 5
- 6 subdirectories requiring 4
- 4 subdirectories requiring 3
- 3 subdirectories requiring 2
- 1 subdirectory requiring 1

This, if true, basically means that:

1) If you plan on raising Combat Defence to maximum and have Wits 5, which is generally not a bad idea, there is totally no reason to have Computers above 3
2) If you plan on also raising Auspex to maximum, there is no need to raise Computers at all. If you read "Computers for Grandma), you can hack anything with Wits 5, Auspex 3. If you do the CD quest too, Auspex 1 is enough.

While I can understand that Auspex should be powerful and actually help, I am quite disappointed that raising Computers above 3 is useless for a combat-oriented character. :(
