Who Is The Vanishing Vampire?

I am playing VtMB for the first time, and am about half-way through the game. For a while now I have been seeing a vampire in seemingly random locations: sometimes just standing in an alley, sometimes while I am doing quests (I believe he was in the junkyard when I was doing the final part of the serial killer quest). I walk toward him, and he vanishes in a puff of black smoke. I take it that is Obfuscate. Gary did the same thing after I spoke to him.

This guy is clearly not a Nosferatu though. He's male, with dark hair. Sadly I have not had the presence of mind to get a screen cap of him yet.

So who is this guy? Do we find out later in the game? Or is he just some kind of easter egg or joke by the devs?

Btw. I am using the Unofficial Patch, Plus version 10.3. In case he was added by Wesp.

Yes, he was added by the plus patch and he is a Lasombra you will meet as part of the Library quest which you receive from Beckett at a fairly late point in the game.

He looks like a Sabbat Shovelhead just before he disappears tho x)

It's not Beckett's assistant.

He's the antagonist in that quest.

The dark-haired vampire in the suit who appears at Salvage Brothers junkyard anyway. There is another vanishing vampire in the alley between the two sides of Santa Monica who appears the first time you go there, and I think Wesp specified he's a Sabbat member spying on the player.

Oh ? That's why he looks like a Sabbat mob then x) So we never see Beckett's assistant, aside from when we help him escape from the Sabbat ritual room ?

I don't think so.  We just find his notes.
