So I'm playing through this game for the first time and I noticed something odd.

A couple days ago, I was walking around Hollywood trying to figure out the 'Ginger Swan' thing and I met this guy Ash who owns the club Asp Hole(I hate that name. It's something a 12 yo would come up with). He was in a spot, so I helped him out(clothes swap with lookalike).

Then I loaded up the game today, running around in circles looking for a ginger and I noticed there is a back door at the Club right at the bottom of the stairs leading to the upper level, next to the bathroom! I mean, wtf, hehe. I dunno, it was a few days ago that I did that quest, but I don't remember him saying anything like 'I can't go out the backdoor because of...x,y,z....'

Anyway just thought that was odd.

Also sometimes when I'm walking around I'll see npcs flash by at high speed. I know its a random glitch now, but the first several times I saw that happen I was walking down alleys and I would see an npc flashby at the end of the alley where it opened up into the street ahead so I only saw them for a split second, and I just thought some npcs where wearing roller skates, lol.

Edit:
Oh yeah, since this is my first playthrough, are there things to watch out for, things I shouldn't do? I mean specifically in regards to quest related bugs - not plot choices.

I already know you have to do Hot Stripper Assassin Action a certain way. I'm playing GoG version with unofficial patch 10.4r2(I like being a beta guinea pig!)

He knows about the back door and says: "Hunters - in front, back, inside my club. I try to leave, they'll move on me."

That is a known random glitch that we never found a way to fix...

No, I hope there are not many big quest issues left :)!

You're a lucky man curseofnight, doing your first play in the UP10.+....
No quests bugs, a lot of restored / fixed content, etc... your game experience will be very good, I would like mine was the same, 15 years ago... hahaha

But you enjoy some remaining gliches, like running ppl or the apartments elevator...

I envy you for playing the first time. I can think of nothing game breaking, if you play however you like.
Just have fun. And good luck with Ginger Swan :)

Some glitches better left undisturbed, they're like old familiar buddies, without them good old Bloodlines will be just Bloodlines. lol

@Wesp5! You da man! My hats off to you, and everyone else who contributed to the unofficial patch over the years - but you didn't have to do all that just for me... :D

About Ash: Ok, that makes sense, I guess I forgot he said that.

Thanks for the greets all and yeah, I reckon it's probably best I showed up late to the party this time. Heh.

I have a really old PC Gamer demo disc that has They Hunger parts 1 and 2, the Unreal Gold patch and VTM Redemption. However, the Redemption demo installer is corrupt, so it gives error at around 1/3rd of the way through and fails so I never played that either back in the day(I got it a couples days ago though, after bloodlines. Hate it. Respawning enemies kills progression in Singleplayer mode in RPGs, IMO...)

So to be completely honest, I knew absolutely ZERO about this game when I got it. It was a very spur of the moment decision - I didn't even read the description. I had seen it mentioned online a few times over the years but all I knew was it supposed to be a classic and had a vampire chick on the logo, lol. I thought it was going to be straight up FPS where you where a vampire hunter!

I was taken by surprise(in a good way) when I started it for the first time and discovered you get to BE a vampire! And the surprises kept coming - characters, story, music, atmosphere, RPG elements - all combined make bloodlines easily the best 'hidden gem' I've ever stumbled across.

And it was made with the lack of time, lack of money and on the crappy engine, typical for something epic.

VtMB is still my favorite rpg. It's so well written and I love the characters.
I really did party a bit, when Beckett appeared for the fist time, since I've read a lot about him.

Wait, are there books? I know VtM is a D&D type board game.

Also, can someone give me a no spoiler hint to this Ginger Swan business?

The last thing that happened was I met this guy in an alley, he didn't have the tape, he dropped name 'Ginger Swan' then got pulled into the sewers. I went down there and found some blood on the side of the tunnel but that was it. I asked the Sin Bin guy about Ginger Swan, he didn't know anything.... And that's it.

I know I can look this up my own but I've already spoiled some things earlier in the game because I was looking up info about the game in general and I'm paranoid about that happening again.

There are PnP rule books for VtM and some connected novels.

Sweet, thanks for tip! I'll check it out later.

It's kool there are novels but think I may proceed with caution there and do a bit of research.

I don't like the omnipresent writing style where the author is constantly jumping back and forth between the minds of characters when they meet and giving away their secrets to the reader the first time they appear in the story:

Generic Good Guy:
'I wonder if this guy is evil, what's his plan?'
"Who are you?"

Generic Bad Guy:
"Who me? I'm no one important."
'Ahha! I lied to the fool! I'm actually a very bad person and my plan is take over the world! Mahaha!'

I would avoid them. I only read the Gehenna novel because I wanted to know what happened and it was quite bad! So bad in fact that in the newest PnP version Gehenna never happened :)!

The Gehenna ones were supposed to be the end story of the classic World Of Darkness (the shared universe of Vampire The Masquerade, Werewolf The Apocalypes and several others).
Then they tried a remake of the series (dubbed by fans new WOD, now known as Chronicles Of Darkness) which despite the cool new features the bad ones were felt more.
Not even talking about the small chapter of Monte Cook's version, the classic/original WOD was restarted in 2011, the canonic ending was declassed as uncanon and (the reason for this long premise) a new book was released, Beckett's Jyhad Diary

As fas as I understand that was planned as a new starting point for the WOD bibliography, so if you're interested gave it a look.

I liked some of the clan novels, they gave a nice insight into the different clans.
Was glad, that there was a Malkavian prince.

I wouldn't recommend reading Eternal Hearts. I bought it, because one of my favorite signature characters, Sascha Vykos, were featured. But it is really bad.
