Character Creation
« on: August 11, 2019, 05:15:51 AM »
Anyone have any thoughts on what they intend for character creation and a selection of heads, rather than customizable sliders?  This was brought to my attention by qheretic.  All I have to say is that they better be some damned good looking heads and I hope we can at least use different hairstyles on any given head option.

36:29 is where they talk about it.

So... I hope the library of selectable heads is large. That said... I'm all right with it. I no longer remember what it was for, but I used the sliders style once and I wasn't the biggest fan... I basically kept everything on default. So as long as the library selection is very large, then I'm fine. Bring on the library.

I was just about to steam in here and point out that Bethesda use sliders just FINE in their games, and what do you know, they gave them a shout out. :P

I prefer sliders. You have more freedom to tweak your character just the way you like them that way, and avoid making samey-looking characters (especially if, like me, you are an altaholic who might play 10+ characters in a game). With presets, I find there are never enough options to suit my needs, or 3/4 of them are fugly, or something like that. I hope they have a nice library there which will suit everyone, and definitely fine-tuning options like different hairstyles, brows, eye shapes, mouth shapes etc. Not just a few preset heads...

I like sliders, it worked well with Dragon Age Inquisition. I just hope, we will get better hair than DAI.

What I would like are different body types, different skin tones and As I said, nice hair styles

For me, I have 3 criteria: 1) be appealing-looking (until Nossies, of course), 2) have some variety/big difference between them, and 3) have the heads be well-suited to each clan. So kinda like the way Shadowrun Dragonfall or Neverwinter Nights 2 handles it.

We're all paying good money for this game, so I want Paradox/Hardsuit to give us all amazing head.

Ahahaha! Btw, he is a player currently on EnterElysium's "Rogue Trader: Frontier" (not the "Lost" campaign) tabletop game if anyone wants to watch him and others be douchebags in space in the 40K setting  2 episodes are on YT and he first appears in Episode 2.

What's the point if you can't see your character?

Maybe there will be mirrors? If so, all the more reason for me to want Lasombra in hopes of a cool, funky, shadowy blur for a "reflection." I guess other people might like the relections to see their outfits and physical appearance. Of course, some of the melee attacks switch you into third person where players might see their character's derpy face.

Specially if you don't see you character's face in the 99% of the game you might not want to see a face like this in that 1% and fuck up an otherwise perfect cinematic section. Or worse of all when it's not planned at all so when a small bug came up, your face is shown and you finally know what you look like. And die inside.

As far as I know, in Bloodlines 2 there will be an opportunity to create various mods. And now, let's just dream that someone will one day create a mod so that you can play with a 3rd person perspective...

Yes, I also like to sit for hours and create unique, and sometimes funny characters, therefore, the view from the 1st person ...uh, will be a little unusual for me...

I'm still hoping there will be some way of seeing them, an out of combat vanity camera if nothing else, plus there will be the cutscenes and those special moves and (probably) the character screen... perhaps hardly worth the effort but I would still like to craft unique characters.

I definitely prefer sliders.  I keep remembering the unmodded head selection from Morrowind.  *shudder*

As for being able to see your character, I am going to assume that they will implement something like a vanity camera.

But who can forget such beautiful choices as this gem below?

I came into it in 2004 back when I was still practically a baby, 2 years after it was first released and fortunately there were plenty of great mods by that point.  I didn't KNOW that at first though.  lol

So when I found the head replacer mods and the "Better Bodies" mod, I was pretty darn happy.
