My guess is that it either has to do something with the delays or with political issues and probably some of those people went on their own because they disagreed about the others being fired...
I really hope that Brian Mitsoda wasn´t fired because of Cara Ellison who wants to make Bloodlines 2 her own and throw him under the bus because some of his writing isn´t politically correct.

That would be some Lacroix-level shit and an UTTERLY un-progressive thing to do, given her political stances (coincidentially my own as well).

I'm slightly dissapointed in her though... maybe not... maybe I am ?

I mean, I can't blame her for choosing to stay at her current job but I do wish people would fight the good fight every now and then.

Think about all the stuff in Bloodlines 1 who were fine / ok for 2004 but nowadays precarious.
I mean all the Bush and republican jokes, gay stereotypes like Tommy Flayton and maybe even racist like some one of black or asian characters.
You can bet that you can´t write this for a "woke" and therefore safe Bloodlines 2 which Paradox and Cara Ellison would want to make.

Outstar does not work for Paradox. She works for World of Darkness like Jason Carl does.
As far as I know Paradox completely owns White Wolf and World of Darkness now...

They do and for some time operate independently but for this controversy "the White Wolf team will be restructured and integrated directly into Paradox Interactive "https://www.polygon.com/2018/11/16/18098929/white-wolf-controversy-paradox-interactive-new-ceo
So yeah Outstar works for Paradox.

Ugh, I was hoping Paradox was just paying for a license from World of Darkness/White Wolf. That's unsettling. She works for "World of Darkness" which is owned by (a subsidiary of) Paradox. So she generally works for Paradox, and specifically works for World of Darkness/White Wolf. It kinda sounds like they're "phasing out" the whole White Wolf branding to call it "World of Darkness" only, unless I'm missing something.

If they're canning Mitsoda - a seemingly pretty liberal dude given the first game's Bush/Republican candidate jokes and such - due to a desire to make the game more politically correct, then that's some BS. Extreme political correctness tends to lessen entertainment values from whatever it's in.

Or maybe Paradox chinese overlords Tencent (They own 5% of Paradox) aren´t happy with some historic stuff.
No joke Activision has removed the original first Trailer of the newest Call of Duty because it features some clips of the Tiananmen protests.
Who knows why Paradox fired Mitsoda but unlike the three other guys it was a really dumb move to fire him before the Bloodlines 2 release.

I don't see how anybody with only 5% influence should be able to do so, don't get Tencent paranoid...

Either way if it sucks or is good it will bring some fresh blood to bloodline 1 (either by outrage or by simply being good)
At the end of the day I am just happy that a flawed masterpiece like vtmb1 exist, the rest is just a bonus.

I think more than just the 5%, it's about appeasing the Chinese Market as a whole (which actually means, playing it very safe with the CCP). Tencent is a problem for their influence over many companies, rather than their investment over individual ones (although they also have a lot of shares in some cases).

As for what interests us (Mitsoda and Bloodlines 1 & 2), there is (likely) no big influence overall (although we'll never get another Chinatown in a big game at least for the next 30 years, I bet).

I really hope we'll get to hear something about what went down, eventually. Whether the game is good or not, it would give me some peace of mind to know exactly what caused this mess.

Getting back on topic, I am sure a new game is good for the franchise, as long as it's not a disaster. I think the ads so far already brought the brand back into the collective consciousness, and an actual release will do even more for that. If the game is good, it will re-invigorate the IP, and we might get even more games in the same world. Bloodlines 1 can only benefit from all this, although it's old, so I don't expect a huge renaissance.
